The Legend of Korra – Release Date!
After weeks and months of speculation, Avatar fans have only a month left before the world of water, earth, air and fire bending returns to television screens. We count ourselves among the hundreds of thousands of people who fell in love with Avatar: The Last Airbender and when we’d first heard that the show would be coming back we were admittedly a little sceptical as we were perfectly content with how the first series has finished.
Then word reached us that this new show while still based in the world of the Avatar would not follow Aang after he defeated the Fire Lord and restored peace and balance to the four nations instead, a new Avatar was rising up, a tempermental waterbender named Korra…
This meant two things for us…
1/ Aang had died
2/ It would be set several decades if not a century after the events of the first show
While mourning our loss, we’ve also been scouring the internet for dribs and drabs of information only to find ourselves being rickrolled or reading things that should be carrying an R rating – it seemed like Nickelodeon were keeping the whole project secret and drip feeding us tiny bits of information every now and again, the show would be 70 years after the ending of the war, Korra is a girl and then they dropped two big bombshells on us:
1/ A picture of Korra and her Polar Bear Dog
2/ Her Air Bending teacher is Tenzin, the son of Kitara and Aang
Now they’ve dropped another big heap of news, The Legend of Korra will begin airing on April 14th 2012! We’ve every faith in Nickelodeon and with the episodes being written by original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, we know it won’t go wrong!
We’re dying to follow Korra on her adventures, having already mastered water, fire and earth bending she now begins her journey to master air but a revolution is brewing and the actions of a group called ‘Equalists’, a radical movement of people who want to wipe out bending would see her fail.
