I was at a complete loss for today’s Track of the Day, before I chose ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ by Richard Wagner. All the different music I listen to and I couldn’t pick anything that jumped out to me. Finally, I was listening to a podcast where Rob Paulsen was being interviewed about Animaniacs and Pinky and the BrainRob was saying how classical music is used in many cartoons to introduce them to a younger audience and specifically mentioned using ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ in the famous Looney Tunes scene between Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

That’s when I thought it was time to go classcial and chose this song for the Track of the Day. ‘The Ride of the Valkyries’ is the popular term for the beginning of Act III of Die Walküre, the second of the four operas by Richard Wagner that comprise Der Ring des Nibelungen. The main theme of the ride, the leitmotif labelled Walkürenritt was first written down by the composer on July 23, 1851.

So without any further droning on from me, check out this classical masterpiece:

Great piece of music, and I hope you enjoy a little class in your day today!
