Blizzard Entertainment have revealed a video of the latest hero to be joining the fight in their latest venture into the MOBA genre, Overwatch. The new character introduced in this 10 minute match is Soldier 76, a brooding vigilante wielding a rifle and long distance rockets. His special ability is called the ‘tactical visor’, an effect that allows him to lock onto any nearby enemies and attack them directly.
Soldier 76 seems to be a general all around character as he also has the ability to heal himself and his allies on the fly. While he is fast and can heal, he isn’t the strongest of characters, so he seems to be more of a quick sniper that can dash in and out of combat, similar to something like the the Scout from TF2.
Overwatch is set to move into Beta later this year.
