Sony Moving Forward With The Dark Tower Film Series
Feels like an age since we last hear about the proposed film adaptations of Stephen King’s Dark Tower book series, but finally there’s been official word. Courtesy of Deadline, Sony have announced that they are pulling the trigger on getting the series of films together. Not only that, but Sony is pairing with MRC to make an accompanying TV series.
The books revolve around a gunslinger named Roland Deschain, who traverses a world which is filled with magic and fantasy. The first film si said to have strong elements of both fantasy and horror, and will predominantly be set in the first book. Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner are the writers of the latest draft of the script, however there’s as yet no director or actors attached to the project.
In a statement on where the production is now, author of the series Stephen King said, “Those who have traveled with Roland and his friends in their search for the Dark Tower are going to have their long-held hopes fully realized. This is a brilliant and creative approach to my books.“
