Final Fantasy
As you may know we have covered Final Fantasy VII and X over the last month so this week I am going to take a look at Final Fantasy VIII and some of its tough bosses and other bosses that just simply were incredibly irritating. This game really brings me back to my child hood and the 25 thousand times I played it after that. This game in terms of Final Fantasy games actually has very few bosses but the few it has more than test your patience. So with that said lets look at these bad guys and gals.

Seifer

Seifer once used to be a fellow SEED member in the garden of Balamb (where you start). He then becomes one of your main rivals very early in the game. In total you have to battle Seifer four times. SeiferHe is basically Edea’s bodyguard throughout the game. Basically you have to go through him all the time to get to Edea. Now he isn’t particularly tough he is just more annoying.
He loves to use a lot of fire moves so equipping basic accessories to lessen the blow is pretty much the best way to keep him on the ropes. That and any of his weakness at different points in the game. But the accessories are enough trust me he is pretty wimpy. There isn’t much more to say on Seifer in terms of tactics or skills.
Like I said he is an easy boss but just doesn’t get the hint and go away.

Edea

Edea

Edea is a sorceress who for the first half of the game is your sworn enemy.
However after a turn of events during the game it turns out she looked after a lot of your gang in an orphanage half way across the world and once this comes to life. Edea finally remembers who she was and that is when you find the ultimate evil with we look at later in this article. The first time you face Edea you can’t actually get a game over even if you are killed.
The battle is almost automated, you have control but the end will aways end the same. So technically you could do nothing for this fight and you will win but however if you actually defeat her rather than just timing out you do get a nice battle bonus. However the second time you face her it’s not so easy. The good news is during the second battle she is prone to sleep so that can buy you time. But be very aware she can cast curse which means you cannot use your super strong overdrives and she can also use a power called maelstorm which reduces your health by 50%.
She also uses a lot of magic so again accessories that help protect against magic will be big help as she has level 3 spells.

BGH251F2

BBGH251F2GH251F2 doesn’t have much of a story but it does appear twice in the game. The first time around this guy can be devastating to your party. He has a move called beam cannon that can kill your characters in one go. Be advised you need to a lot of training before entering the missile camp on disk 1. If you don’t you can get stuck and not able to move on in the game as you can’t go back and train anywhere due to the base being locked down and this guy blocking the exit. However make sure you have some powerful lightning magic. The stronger the better this guy is extremely venerable to lightning and takes a whopping amount of damage from it.
You can also equip yourself with shell to soften the blow from the beam cannon attack. This guy has six cylinders that need to be blown apart. The second time around the machine is not as tough and the same tactics can be applied.

FF8_AdelAdel

Although Adel is pretty minor of a character in the game she is still a bad ass and very had to kill. The main reason for this is because she basically shares a life force with your character Rinoa. So basically if Rinoa dies it’s all game over. Adel tends to attack Rinoa knowing that is your weak spot. Adel also casts shell on herself meaning your spells can be thrown right back at you.
As well as all this you cannot use your overdrives or summons because these all multiple target moves and Rinoa is considered a target. So in other words it will wipe her out in the process of attacking Adel. The only tactic that works for this battle is to cast protect on Rinoa as well as regen.
Then also make sure you keep healing her throughout the battle. Other than that attack Adel with full force.

                                                          Ultimecia_(forme_finale)

Ultimecia

Ultimecia is the final boss who has four different evolutions. One of the main things that makes her so difficult is the fact that you do not get to choose who fights her but instead they are randomly chosen so you pretty much have to have all your characters leveled up and know their strengths and weaknesses. She also automatically kills off any summon straight away before they even get to attack. She also has the ability to cast maelstorm but hers takes a whopping 66% off your health in one go! And as if that’s not enough she can also cast curse meaning no limit breaks and she can also cast double meaning she can attack twice. The one and only strategy here is non stop hacking and slashing with tones of healing. You don’t really have any other choice.
Well, I hope you enjoyed some of the tips I shared. Now go forth and kick some ass!
