Without doubt the biggest hit of the Summer, and quite possibly now the year, Guardians of the Galaxy has once again been an American box office no.1 and is now the highest grossing film of the year. Trumping the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stateside, Guardians took in a very nice 16.3 million over the labor day weekend, staying 4 million over the Bay-produced reboot.
Not that Marvel are complaining, mind, as Guardians also out-does the previous big seller of the year, Captain America: The Winter Soldier for highest grossing film so far, and has out-done Transformers: Age of Extinction for highest hitter of the Summer. As of this weekend, GotG has earned 279 million dollars worldwide, and is expected to reach 320 before its theatrical tenure is out. We are well and truly Groot.
