So, the game has officially been out just over a week and I have spent quite a lot of time playing this. I think considering all the hours I’ve put in to the game, it is only fair that I give it a review!
Title: Ship Antics – Chapter 1 The Legend of the Kiki Beast
Designer: Studio POWWOW
Publisher: Odin Publications Under licence from StudioPOWWOW
Players: 1
Play Time:35 minutes
Available on: iOS €1.99
Difficulty Rating: 4
The minute the first screen is loaded you know this is going to be a good game. The animation is fun and perfect. You can tell the guys at StudioPOWWOW have a lot of talent and experience in animation. Think Adventure Time meets Happy Tree Friends which is instantly appealing to anyone of any age.  It suddenly brings the characters to live in a great way.  There are  a lot of cute little details that really show how carefully this game was thought out
The voice-overs are only in use during the animations and text throughout the actual gameplay. Personally I think this was a good move as when you think about the amount of space required for continuous voice-overs inevitably the game would be more expensive to run and download.
TShipAntics01he navigation is simple and clean with clear icons. This is definitely a winner especially for young children. The game is easy to follow with puzzles and videos initially locked. It’s easy to understand why once you start the game. The game launches into a very high quality cartoon. Although the accents are a bit different and might take some getting used to, it quickly becomes endearing and it is nice to hear the hint of Irish accents throughout reminding you that this is an Irish built game.
The puzzles are fantastic using the full capabilities of a mobile device. There is a lot of thinking outside the box to solve some of the puzzles and what’s more enjoyable is that each puzzle gets a bit trickier each round. Admittedly when this game was first shown to me and there was an action required I just stared at it because I wasn’t thinking that I could shake the device for the required action.
ShipAntics03The ending of the chapter of this game however, ended really quickly and was a bit lost about what to do next. There was unfortunately no really obvious indicators that the puzzles that were unlocked would be mini games (excellent Mini-games in fairness!).
Overall I absolutely love the concept of this game and look forward to seeing Chapter 2. The animation is, like I said amazing standard, clever little puzzles and excellently put together.

It’s the perfect game for little gamers of about 7-11 years! 8/10
