X-Men: Days of Future Past – Meet Colossus
Name: Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin
Alias: Colossus
Abilities: Transform his body into an ‘organic steel’ that grants him super human strength, stamina and durability.

Bio: Piotr was born on in Siberia, he grew up on a Soviet collective farm with his parents and younger sister Illyana. Like many other mutants, Piotrs powers manifested themselves at adolescence, his mutation exacerbated by his attempt to save his young sister from being crushed by a tractor. His mutation led to Professor X contacting him and an invitation to the United States, it was here that Piotr was given the name Colossus and he would take his place alongside the X-Men. Despite his brutish size and enormous strength Piotr is a gentle young man who only uses his powers to protect others from harm and furthering the chance of peace between humans and mutants.
As a member of the X-Men he battled the Brotherhood, the Shi’Ar Empire, Mr. Sinister and the Marauders. Must Reads:
Colossus Bloodline – this run gave Colossus fans a chance to discover more about the mutant and his life back in Russia. After being contacted by his cousin, Piotr travels home to investigate the murders of several members of his family whom he learns are the direct descendants Grigori Rasputin.
Alternate versions:
Colossus appeared in the original 90’s cartoon series featuring in two episodes, he would later appear in X-Men Evolution series acting as a bodyguard and right hand to Magneto. Daniel Cudmore played Colussus in X-2 aiding young mutants to escape the Xavier Institute when under attack and X-Men The Last Stand joining the team in their final fight against the Magneto’s army.
Fun Fact: In the ‘Ultimate X-Men’ universe, Colussus is gay. This would go on to alter his relationships with some of closest friends including Nightcrawler.
