THQ Nordic Reveal TimeSplitters & Saint Row Details. Plus They Add To Their Studios
THQ Nordic have been very busy in recent year, as it has been growing at a steady pace, acquiring studios, publishing arms and much beloved IPs. In a recent financial report for the company, we get a glimpse into some future products from the company. We break down the main points below.
TimeSplitters
After picking up the TimeSplitter IP back in 2018, details have been scarce since then. Luckily THQ Nordic have announced that one of the series’ creators, Steve Ellis, will return to the franchise. It is unknown who will be in charge of development duties. Expect more news very soon.
Saints Row
Saints Row has been on hiatus over the last number of years, but now original developer Volition are hard at work making a fully fledged sequel to Saints Row IV (2013). Will it fill the gap of an open world crime game , like the first two titles, or will it stick to the over-the-top wackiness of the III & IV? We will have to wait and see.
Dead Island 2
Announced back in 2014, the development of Dead Island 2 has been rocky to say the least. With Techland moving on to make Dying Light, developer duties fell to Yager . After some demos were shown of the game, Yager were dropped from the project with Sumo Digital tasked to finish the game. Now it has been announced that Dambuster Studios, who are wholly owed by Deep Silver (a subsidiary of THQ Nordic). Will this game rise from dead anytime soon? We wish Dambuster the best of luck.
Gunfire Games
Finally, news of Gunfire Games being bought outright has been announced. THQ Nordic announced it via social media. They are the developers of the Darksiders series and Remnant: From the Ashes. In a tweet, on August 14th:
To put it in THQ Nordic’s words: “We are stoked to have Gunfire on board and are very excited about our collaborative future and the projects we will realise together.”
To put it in Fury’s words: “Welcome to the family, I guess…”
