Oh boy, I don’t know how I feel about this! Take a look at the image above; that’s what the Inhumans Royal Family looks like! I mean when you think of The Inhumans, that’s the image that’s conjured! I have been following the Inhumans TV series news pretty closely. Medusa is, afterall, one of my favourite Marvel characters!
Meh Humans
The image, released by Marvel and ABC has somewhat deflated my enthusiasm. I’d image the opposite of what their PR people wanted to do. The cast photo reveals Eme Ikwuakor (left) as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus:
I realise they’re the royal family, and this ‘portrait’ might been for something official but it doesn’t really inspire any feelings. Gorgon looks like he’s wearing a doormat as a shawl, Black Bolt looks like he repurposed the X-Men uniforms from the first trilogy. Swan as Medusa just looks uncomfortable, I’ve said it already, her outfit looks like a pretty lame Starfire cosplay. Crystal looks like she belongs in an early 2000 pop music video. Maximus looks like Rheon just showed up in his own clothes and didn’t have time to change (although I do like his look the most or hate it the least!).
Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere with the first two episodes to be shown exclusively in IMAX cinemas for two weeks, starting on Sept. 1 with the rest airing on ABC as part of their Autumn schedule.
