Rumours of a Cursed Child movie that emerged once Warner Brothers trademarked the name recently were quelled by a Rowling spokeswomen who said:

“This type of trademarking is standard practice.Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is a stage play, with no plans for there to be a film.”

Therefore fans are still holding out for the script of the play which is being released, in some cases at midnight, on Harry and Rowling’s birthday of the 31st July. Different retailers have different prices for the release but The Arcade has you covered.

Shop Around!

By far the best deal online comes from Amazon.co.uk who hold to their usual pre-order promise of £9.99 plus postage. However as I discovered when I had this order in place, delivery takes ages and the estimated delivery date was 8th of August; over a week later. If you don’t mind waiting Amazon is your friend, but if like most excited fans you want to go and pick it up on the day, local bookstores are you best bet.

Easons countrywide have a 10% deal for all pre-orders so if you’re not in Dublin, run down to your local Easons. While you’re there you can also find out if your branch has a midnight release party, as some of them do, for getting your cosplay game on and meeting other fans.

A release party of note is happening in Dublin in the very quaint Hodges and Figgis on Dawson Street. The store will re-open on Saturday the 30th of July at 10pm for a night of Potter celebration. There is band promised along with various events such as “Quidditch practice, owl racing, fortune-telling, the HP Quiz, readings and prizes”. If this isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, the bookshop is offering a staggering half-price pre-order price with no deposit needed! Some of The Arcade will be there aswell and maybe even some reps from real-life muggle Quidditch.

If you still want to attend the play, Pottermore are offering another shot at tickets from September 1st if you register for the site by end of day 17th July. Let us know whether you want to get the script or not and what you’re doing to celebrate in the comments!
