Games consoles always vary from region to region but they by and large look the same. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES we in Ireland played with looks pretty much the same as the Japanese Super Famicom. America however received an entirely different beast.
If you;ve ever wondered why the American SNES looked so different from the other two versions, Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamato said in a recent interview that the main concern was American’s spilling soda cans on the machine thus damaging it irreparably.
As you do.
It’s difficult to tell whether Miyamato-san is a master of deadpan or if that was the genuine thinking behind such a ridiculous decision but it certainly could be too insane a reason for it not to be the truth.
