Xbox’s director of programming and video game sage, Major Nelson, has revealed the release date for Gears of War 4 in his latest blog post. The newest entry in the franchise is set to release on October 11 and its multiplayer open beta will be available this month.
Starting on April 18, owners of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive early access to the beta which will be open to all Xbox Live Gold members on April 25 until May 1.
Gears of War 4 picks up 25 years after the events of the original trilogy. With the locust and lambent extinct, humanity struggles with a new faction of humans who reject the Coalition of Governments’ rule. You’ll be controlling JD, the son of former-protagonist Marcus Fenix, in his discovery of a new threat to mankind.
