I haven’t featured an OC Remix on here yet, and that’s just scandalous, really. The site is full of amazingly creative folk putting incredibly unique twists on some of our favourite video game tunes, and today’s offering comes from ‘9-bit’ aficionado, halc.
Is there any doubt that Final Fantasy X is amongst the best in the series? The story was mesmerizing, the battle system was simple yet effective, the tropical world was unique and gorgeous, the voice acting was- erm, well… the music was fantastic anyway. It’s a rare game that can have both a death metal banger and chilled-out tribal music on the same soundtrack, but Final Fantasy X managed it.
This remix is based on the brilliant theme for Besaid Island, expanding it with the sound of waves pushing in and out to relax the listener, with some simple percussion and chiptune-esque flair all over the place, while still keeping that idyllic feel the original had. It’s one of my go-to de-stressing tunes, and it’s available for absolutely nothing – along with literally thousands and thousands of other great remixes – on the OverClocked Remix site.
