You might remember that time the internet and Disney fans went into a frenzy after Tarzan director Christopher Buck made remarks about the former King and Queen of Frozen’s Arendelle surviving their ship sinking only to wind up washed ashore on a jungle island.

Now you might be thinking, “So what?” – Well, you see, we’re on the internet and when a director of a major animated film makes remarks like that, it only adds fuel to the fan theories. Many believe that the King and Queen were travelling to attend the celebrations of Rapunzel’s wedding when their ship was caught in a storm possibly created by King Triton, a ship that Ariel would later find in The Little Mermaid.
Fans believed the couple survived the storm and were stranded on a jungle island where they started a new life and had a son, Tarzan.

Director Buck has explained to MTV that his remarks aren’t canon but it’s up to each fan to decide the fate of the Arendelle royal family:

I said, ‘Of course Anna and Elsa’s parents didn’t die… Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy. They get shipwrecked, and somehow they really washed way far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle. They end up building a tree house and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas. So in my little head, Anna and Elsa’s brother is Tarzan — but on the other side of that island are surfing penguins, to tie in a non-Disney movie,’ Surf’s Up.’ That’s my fun little world.

What do you think? Did the King and Queen survive? Do Anna and Elsa have a brother named Tarzan? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
