The world exploded with Shenmue 3‘s reveal at E3 2015 during Sony’s press conference, and while we only got a short pre-alpha teaser of what to expect, the game’s Kickstarter was still funded in 1 hour and 42 minutes. Despite the game being in extremely early stages of development, people wanted to see more and, as luck would have it, the game’s Kickstarter campaign has released some new working footage in their last hours of funding. The video itself doesn’t show much other than Ryo and Shenhua at a lake surrounded by glowing bugs, clearly showing an example of the game’s lighting affects.

The project is currently at $4,970,388 with 55, 811 backers who funded the game’s original target of $2,000,000 in a matter of hours. While this all may sound like a tremendous success, Yu Suzuki has recently stated that the game will need $10 million to fulfill his vision of a true open world Shenmue title, including that he has found other funding sources other than Kickstarter.
