Patrick Stewart And Ian McKellen Will Not Be In X-Men: Apoclaypse
Of the confirmed X-Men cast, there’s been a question over Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen’s return for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse as the film is set to focus on the younger versions of the characters instead of the older members from the first films. Via Variety, Stewart confirmed on Larry King Now that him and McKellen aren’t slated for an appearance.
“I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters,” Stewart said. “And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.”
Stewart and McKellen’s last appearance was as a part of X-Men: Days of Future Past, a film which essentially reset the series for a fresher palette going into Apocalypse. The film also further fleshed out James McAvoy’s Xavier and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, who now seem to be the Xavier and Magneto of the X-Men franchise ongoing. It is still unknown if Stewart of Mckellen will make an appearance in Gambit or Deadpool. X-Men: Apocalypse is due in theaters May 2016.
