US retailer ‘Fred Meyer’ may have let the gaming cat out of the bag after a picture of a reservation card for Smash Bros WiiU went online. The card indicates that the WiiU beat-em up is scheduled for a November 21st release putting the game out just under two months after the 3DS version makes it way into our hands on October 3rd.
There have been plenty of spoofs, fake characters and questionable test footage all ‘leaked’ online and the authenticity of this card is still being questioned. While it certainly looks real, Nintendo have not made any statements on the release date, addressed the image and the card also states; ‘Game Release Date subject to change‘.
It could just be the store trying to get ahead of the competition and encouraging early pre-sales by picking a date in November or this could be the definitive release date!
We have reached out to Nintendo for confirmation and will report back if we hear anything!
*UPDATE* Nintendo have replied to our enquiries and the image stating:
“The launch date hasn’t been announced for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros., either in Europe or the US.”
