Naomi here for Music Monday this week! I’m going to showcase some of the best video-game themed music out there! Parodies, soundtracks and homages, this list is one for the gamers!
5. Chipzel – Focus
Super Hexagon is a fantastic little game you can pick up for a couple of euros on Steam, and trust me, it’s worth way more than that for the soundtrack alone. It’s done by the amazingly talented Chipzel (who you may remember played ArcadeCon 2013) who specializes in chip-tune music.
4. Lisa Miskovsky– Still Alive
Probably not the ‘Still Alive’ you were expecting? This beautiful piece accompanied the fan-favourite Mirror’s Edge, in incredible free-running, parkour style game published by EA.
3. The Yogscast – MoonQuest; An Epic Journey
The Yogscast have a great track record for parody songs and even original pieces, and this is definitely their finest. Based on their Minecraft series, Moon Quest, this is an inspirational song for all of us who want to travel to the moon in a rocket made of blocks!
2. Starbomb – Regetroid
The best thing to happen to Youtube was when Egoraptor teamed up with NinjaSexParty to form the rap band, StarBomb. Their first album is full of amazing raps based on Pokémon, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda and so many more. Regetroid is the perfect mix of comedy and musical talent.
1. Patent Pending – Hey Mario
I am a little bit guilty of favouritism here. I featured these guys in my last Music Monday, but I think they definitely deserve number one on this list. Upbeat, preppy pop-punk songs about Mario? Patent Pending have you covered. They’ve now released a full Mario parody album by the name of Mario and the Brick Breakers, so be sure to check that out too!
