Guardians of Galaxy, I’ll just pause for a minute and let you take that in. Who are they you might asking, The Guardians of the Galaxy They first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1969. In the 31st century an alien race called the Badoon is conquering the solar system, The Guardians were assembled from various races and planets to fight the Badoon and have adventures, eventually ending up in the present day being essentially the Avengers in Space.

Thanos is a frequent enemy of the guardians which will probably mean than it will be spinning out of Avengers. We don’t have a lot of details yet, awaiting the official announcement at this years Comic-Con in July. Marvel Studio’s President Kevin Feige has confirmed the team will be made up from the modern incarnations of the Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and of course Rocket Raccoon.

For a comic fan it’s a good time, even a couple of years ago you would have gotten awful strange looks if you said Rocket Raccoon and Groot and going to be on big screen. In 2008 Marvel rebooted Guardians of the Galaxy and their whole cosmic line with the Annihilation: Conquest Storyline. I would highly recommend it, while not featuring Cap or Spider-Man it is pretty self contained and undaunting to a new comer not being sprawled over a million issued with 40’s years of history to read up on.

Since they seem to be using my fanboy dream journal as a template for movies It must mean that a Nova Movie and Blackwulf TV series are right around the corner . . .
