The tagline for this movie reads ‘There are four kinds of alien encounters. The fourth kind is abduction’ …halfway through the movie you will end up hoping they’d actually abduct you and spare you the torment of having to sit through the remaining half.
What’s it about?
Filmed using various types of footage, cop camera, home videos and voice recordings, The Fourth Kind tells the ‘true’ story of psychologist Abigail Tyler as she endeavours to tell the world her story, following the death of her husband she continues his research but it’s not so simple. The citizens of Nome are terrified, haunted in their dreams, night terrors and apparitions of a haunting white owl, are all shared by the people – Abigail is startled when she too begins to have the same dreams as her patients. Enlisting the aid of a fellow psychologist and a professor of ancient linguistics, Abigail begins to unravel the mystery and soon realises that we really are not alone but when her daughter is abducted and a patient dies under her care Abigail realises that she may have already lost all hope of having a normal life.
Who’s in it?
Resident Evil actress and world famous model, Mila Jovovich takes on the role of Abigail Tyler, it’s not possible to Mila, she knows she isn’t the world’s greatest actress but she always brings a lot of energy and passion to her roles. There is nothing wrong with any of the actual performances of any cast members, in fact they are all quite good at convincing you that this was in fact a true story.
What’s wrong with it?
The movie is a big fat lie! At the beginning you are told it’s a true story and it sets about proving this by interviewing the real Abigail Tyler, cutting in actual home videos and eerie sound recordings captured by the doctor herself and the local police force of Nome. Admittedly we were sucked in by all of this and shockingly enough even a little scared but all of that is lost when you decide to investigate the town itself. A little research and this movie loses everything it built up and the suspense and fear you felt is gone!

Is it really that bad?
In hindsight yes, the movie is as fake as the Alien Autopsy video that still circulates the internet today. If you don’t believe us then google the following: The Fourth Kind, Nome Alaska, Nome Abuctions…the truth is out there…it just doesn’t happen to be in this movie!
