EwTube – Covers Everyone Should Hear

Sometimes you hear a song sung that sounds a hundred times better than the original, you might hear it at karaoke on a hen night, you might hear it during a sing song at your local or like those of who lurk the dark corners of the internet we find them online!

This week EwTube brings you some of the best covers we’ve heard from the unsigned talent on Youtube, ok you might think they’ve massacred your favourite songs but hey…each to their own (and we openly admit to having crap taste in music) but dammit people these sound good to us!

Little Lion Man as Gaeilge – Mo Hat Mo Gheansa?

We are big fans of Mumford & Sons so are very suspicious when we hear of covers of one of our favourite songs, Little Lion Man, but brothers Tadgh and Oisin do something beautiful with the song. Sang in the Irish language, this feels like how the song should have always been sung. Have a listen…

Use Somebody – Hayley Williams/Paramore

Hayley Williams of Paramore fame covers the Kings of Leon song Use Somebody, singing along to an acoustic guitar, it all sounds very raw and unpolished and we really like it. We know Hayley already has a big record deal and successful band but it’s nice to hear sing something other than emo/punk rock stuff.

Sally’s Song – katethegreat19

This girl better be singing as a professional career! Her cover of the melancholy song by Sally from A Nightmare Before Christmas is hauntingly beautiful. All of the music is arranged by Kate herself as well as the backup ‘ooooohs’, there is something soothing like quality about her version.

Sweet Dreams Piano Acoustic Cover – Tiffyiffyiffy

We’re not exactly the biggest Beyonce fans around but the girl has obvious talent and unfortunately she is put to shame by this fantastic cover by tiffyiffyiffy our only problem is tiffys cover is too short, we want more!

Scarlet Ribbons – Sinead O Connor

There is something tormenting about Sinead’s cover, you won’t be the first person to get a little weepy listening to this song… it has been covered by many artists before her, but Sinead puts her own stamp on this version.
