The Last Exorcism

The Last Exorcism Movie Poster

True horror comes not in the form of twisted monsters, rivers of blood or terrifying violence, it comes when we are led to question our beliefs, staring into a black abyss only to realise that somewhere in the dark someone or something is staring back…

The Last Exorcism is the story of Reverend Cotton Marcus, played by Patrick Fabian (veteran US Television star), a preacher who has made his fortune swindling true believers with phoney exorcisms and prayers. Planning on retiring, the Reverend invites a film crew out with him on what is meant to be his final exorcism, a young girl named Nell is believed by her fundamentalist father to be possessed by demons.
With the intention of doing his usual stunt, Cotton plans on ‘confessing’ his sins as such to the crew after he finishes his fake exorcism. However when the gang arrive at the small town farmers home it soon becomes very clear that there is something evil lurking in every inch of the land. Cotton Marcus will come face to face with the darker side of humanity and will somehow have to survive as he is confronted by a force he thought never existed.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding The Last Exorcism and how terrifying it is, unsure at first what to believe we can tell you that this is a film that will have you on the edge of the seat and checking under the bed…

Paul Rudd plays Tim, an up and coming executive at his firm who is facing a somewhat moral dilemma. If Tim plans on making his way up the corporate ladder he has to impress his boss and the only way by doing that is to do as his boss says. Each month the CEO throws a lavish party for senior executives in the company, fancy food, delicious wine and lavish decor… oh and everyone attending has to bring an idiot with them…

Every party needs entertainment and what better way than inviting stupid people and weirdoes to your banquet. Tim is torn at first and then he meets Barry (Steve Carrell), a dim tax office worker with a passion for making miniatures and dressing up dead mice. His fiancé asks him to skip to meal but with a goldmine like Barry sitting in front of him Tim finds himself now mixed up in some insane situations.

Carrell is fantastic as the not so bright and disaster prone Barry and Zach Galifianikis, who plays Therman a man who can control your mind with his mind, is excellent as a comedic sidekick.
