It has been over fifteen years since Friends aired its finale and fans have been wanting more every since. With constant re-runs across the globe, the popularity of the show has continued and has even reached a new generation of fans. But now it has been confirmed, that the cast will reunite for a one-off special, which will air on the new home of Friends – HBO Max.

In a statement from the WarnerMedia:

The Friends cast will be reuniting exclusively for an untitled unscripted special for HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer offering debuting in May 2020.

Series stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer will return to the iconic comedy’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank for a celebration of the beloved show. The unscripted cast reunion special, along with all 236 episodes of the Emmy®-winning series, will be available to subscribers at the launch of HBO Max.

Ben Winston will direct the special and will executive produce along with Friends executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane. The special hails from Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television and Fulwell 73 Productions. Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry, and Schwimmer will also executive produce the special. Emma Conway and James Longman are co-executive producers.

The Friends cast have had varying degrees of success since the show, with Hollywood films, starring in TV shows and even taking the directors chair, a reunion seemed out of reach. Reports claim a fee of $2.5-3 million will be paid to each of the main cast for returning. Fans around the globe can see the hour long special, when it airs on HBO Max in May  .
