With the recent release of the addictively fun Overcooked 2, players got to go back into the crazy kitchens of Ghost Town Games. With some new mechanics and multi-player additions, the sequel was as fun as the original. You can check our Overcooked 2 review here.
Now the crew at Team 17 and Ghost Town Games have released some new DLC in Surf ‘n’ Turf, which brings the fun to the beach. There are twelve new levels based on beaches, swimming pools and coastlines. Each is tightly crafted with their own quirks including moving counters and incoming tides that wash away your progress. This isn’t just a simple re-skin of the base game, as there are new mechanics and recipes to go along with the new kitchens.
Along with twelve new story levels (and some hidden Kevin levels), there are a couple new recipes added to the lineup. You can now make smoothies via chopping fruit an placing it in the blenders. Also new are the kebab skewers, where you chop and cook your ingredients over a fire pit/grill. All the usual recipes like burgers, pancakes, cakes and sushi all return too.
Fire And Water
So what new mechanics are introduced, you ask? Well there is a new way to wash up the dishes thanks to a water gun. You can shoot from a distance to clean dishes or even put out fires that may start. Also added is a bellows to stoke the fire pit. This allows you to raise the temperature and cook your skewers faster.
Worth A Booking?
Packed with all the improvements of the base game and with the additions of the water gun and bellows, Overcooked 2 Surf ‘n’ Turf is brilliant fun. It’s playable in couch co-op and via online multi-player, so if you crave another serving, pick it up. It’s available on PS4 (reviewed on), Xbox One, Switch and PC right now.
