I’m a huge Steven Universe fan and after hearing this particular song I have been listening to it non-stop. ‘Here Comes A Thought’ comes from the episode ‘Mindful Education,’ which is a fusion heavy one featuring Garnet and Stevonnie.
In the episode Steven and Connie have a problem holding their fusion together due to a troubling experience eating away at Connie. This song is pretty amazing for a couple of reasons. The first being that this is the first time Stevonnie has sung in the show and their voice is marvelous. The second reason is that this song is about self care. This show touches on subjects in a way that doesn’t sugar coat it for children.
For me this song has been my meditation song since the episode aired. It encourages you to take a minute to just take a moment. In that moment you want to think of the things that are eating away at you. It also shows how it’s okay to talk to someone and let them support you.
This lovely piece was composed and written by Rebecca Sugar and was sung by Estelle (Garnet) and AJ Michalka (Stevonnie). It is definitely a song that can help you re-centre if you feel like life is a bit hectic around you.
