Okay she’s not playing Barb but it has been confirmed that Shannon Purser will take a role in the upcoming series, Riverdale. The Archie comics reboot is being produced for The CW network.
Purser has been cast as Ethel Muggs. In the comics, Ethel was portayed as a ‘plain-jane’ with a not so subtle crush on Jughead. In The CW series, we know for now that she’s in a relationship but no clue as to who. While not best pals, she does have a friendship with Veronice and Betty in the comics and this has been kept for the TV series.
This isn’t Ethel’s first TV appearance, her character was part of Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again 1990 live-action movie. She was played by Cindy Ambuehl.
Riverdale is set to debut early 2017 on The CW.
