It was only a matter of time before some Japanese music showed up on here, wasn’t it? Today’s pick comes from pop duo EGOIST, as the ending theme to the fantastic anime Psycho-Pass.

Anyone else here watched Psycho-Pass? God, Psycho-Pass is bloody great. As soon as I learned of its existence I knew I would adore it. After all, it’s a cyberpunk anime (already one of my favourite genres) written by Gen Urobuchi of Madoka Magica fame and animated by the studio behind Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Of course I was going to love it. What I wasn’t expecting was such a bloody good ending theme.

EGOIST is a band fronted by Ryo of pop group Supercell, who will be scoring the upcoming Bravely Second and is also responsible for the Black Rock Shooter franchise. ‘Namae No…’ is an awesome orchestral drum-and-bass J-pop…thing. There’s a lot of genres in there, but they all blend together in a way that makes you go “Yes, this feels so right”. It really works as a song on its own, and not just as an ending theme for Psycho-Pass.

…Did I mention that I liked Psycho-Pass? Go watch Psycho-Pass. And listen to this too.
