In a blog post on their website, the team over at Oculus VR have confirmed that the Oculus Touch controllers will not be shipping in the first quarter of 2016 alongside the Rift.

On the path to perfecting Touch, we’ve decided that we need more time before release, and we’ll now be shipping Touch in the second half of 2016. Preorders will open a few months prior to launch.

The Rift is a virtual reality head-mounted display headset developed by Oculus VR and used in conjunction with VR games, movies and apps giving the user the feeling that they are amongst the action and world they’re seeing and hearing. Touch gives the wearer the sensation that their hands are also with them in VR, the controllers allow the user to use their hands to interact with what they’re experiencing.

For the time being the Rift will continue to ship with an Xbox One gamepad and players will use that to play VR games.
