In partnership with Retro Video Game Systems, Coleco has announced that they are developing a new cartridge based console system called COLECO Chameleon.

This new cartridge based console aims to bring back the arcade style games to modern living rooms. It will play the much-loved 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit titles such as Donkey Kong and Frogger. It also plans to play new 2D games designed more recently allowing game developers to publish a brand  of modern-retro gaming to the massive flat screens of today.

Their Telstar console was released in 1976 but they really didn’t make the news until their ColecoVision console was released in 1982. This was an icon of the early ’80s as it brought popular arcade games into the home.

The COLECO Chameleon is due to be launched in 2016 with a sneak peek expected in February for Toy Fair New York 2016.
