Meet the Bad Guy Of ZompireWolf
Ever wondered how it feels to be the bad guy?
16 year old Dylan explains how he became the bad guy in ZompireWolf an Irish developed game currently undergoing fundraising on Kickstarter.
Sometimes the most interesting characters in history are the villains. We all love a good hero but without a great villain, a hero is just someone running around looking for trouble! I always was fascinated by the bad guy as much as rooting for the good guy.
In 2010 I went on holidays to Spain with my family. One night when my parents went out for dinner alone which meant Uncle Derek was stuck in the apartment with me and my younger brother. To be honest, as Mum hadn’t let us bring the Playstation, I think he wasn’t sure what to do with a couple of 8 and 10 year olds!
But we had a great time. Instead of playing computer games, he said it would be even more fun to come up with ideas for computer games. He threw names at us and we had to decide what the game would be about. There was many ideas thrown around that night. At one stage vampires came up, but just a regular vampire was boring we thought.
That’s when Uncle Derek said, “Yeah, but what about a vampire hybrid?” We had no clue what a hybrid was. “What if it was a mix between a Vampire, a Zombie and a wolf called ZompireWolf?” I still remember laughing long and hard about the idea. We discussed friends, enemies, and obstacles he would face. We decided that he could change to each of the characters – a zombie, a werewolf or a vampire -depending on the enemy he was facing. It was a fun holiday memory and I thought nothing more of it.
In February this year, Uncle Derek called in to see my mum and at some stage sat myself and my brother down and said he had exciting news. “Remember ZompireWolf we discussed in Spain? I have just started working on designs and gameplay to turn it into an App!”. We were delighted and wanted to see him. He informed us he was in the design phase and would show him to us as soon as he was done. Over the next few weeks and months we saw the evolution of something we had only dreamed about! At one stage Derek said to me that he was basing the nemesis of ZompireWolf on me! “Because you’re my nemesis!”
He was joking. At least I think he was joking. The nemesis name was ‘The Professor’! He is forever youthful (as he needs to be young!) and a member of what is known as the ‘Mythical Hunters Guild’. “Wow! Can I see him?” I asked. “Next week” was the reply.
I still remember getting the e-mail. He was just like me but wore glasses and had white streaks in his hair. His weapon is a guillotine gun which shot guillotine bullets. “The thing that kills all three characters is chopping the head off,” Derek explained to me. So what happens
is I shoot a gun which fires a bullet with a guillotine blade on it that can chop ZompireWolf’s head off? “Holy S**t!” I shouted. He gave out to me for cursing, but I could see he was happy with my reaction. How do I feel about being the bad guy? Being bad feels great…!
