Google Slashes Minimum App Prices Below 99c

Google has recently slashed the minimum app prices across 17 countries in a move that they say will better show the difference in purchasing power around the world.

Before this, the app price globally was around the 99c range, but now developers in countries including Brazil, Indonesia and Russia can offer their apps, as well as in-app products, at a lower price.

The full list is below:

  • Brazil: R$0.99 (€0.24c) — previously R$2.00
  • Chile: CLP $200.00 (€0.26)— previously CLP $500.00
  • Colombia: COP$ 800.00 (€0.24c) — previously COP$ 2000.00
  • Hungary: Ft 125.00 (€0.36) — previously 225.00
  • Indonesia: Rp 3,000.00 (€0.20) — previously Rp 12,000.00
  • Malaysia: RM 1.00 (€0.20)— previously RM 3.50
  • Mexico: MXN$ 5.00 (€0.29) — previously MXN$ 9.90
  • Peru: S/. 0.99 (€0.29) — previously S/. 3.00
  • Philippines: ₱15.00 (€0.29) — previously ₱43.00
  • Poland: zł1.79 (€0.35 — previously zł2.99
  • Russia: руб 15.00 (€0.20) — previously руб 30.00
  • Saudi Arabia: 0.99 riyal (€0.26)— previously 4.00 riyal
  • South Africa: R3.99 (€0.26) — previously R10.00
  • Thailand: ฿10.00 (€0.26) — previously ฿32.00
  • Turkey: ₺0.59 (€0.20)— previously ₺2.00
  • Ukraine: ₴5.00 (€0.20) — previously ₴8.00
  • Vietnam: ₫6,000 (€0.26) — previously ₫21,000.00

Developers will be able to lower their prices over at the Google Play Developer Console by clicking on ‘Pricing & Distribution’ or ‘In-app Products’.
