Our very culture is built on the idea that we’re outcasts and, while super heroes and Star Wars have most definitely saturated the main stream by now, it would seem there are still some who see these things as a reason for ridicule. Such was the case for a young girl named Layla from Virginia, who was bullied by her classmates for wearing an R2-D2 jacket and a Guardians of the Galaxy shirt. Apparently, those fandoms were not made for girls, and as such poor Layla was bullied to a point where she almost gave up and shed her geek chic to stop her torment.

That is, until her local 501st Legion chapter, Garrison Tyranus, swooped in with a very special present for our young fangirl. The legion issued Layla with a suit of custom made Stormtrooper armor that had been made previously for a similar girl who had also been bullied. Furthermore, she got to meet the one and only Weird Al Yankovic at his concert, where Garrison Tyranus was participating in the stage show. A full post can be found here on the 501st Legion’s Facebook page, along with the picture above.

If that doesn’t put a smile on your face today, we don’t know what will! Let us know what you think in the comments below and leave some praise for everyone’s new favourite stormtrooper!
