As revealed by Bethesda at QuakeCon, Fallout 4 will contain 12 companions for players, and you can romance all of them. Except the dog and the robot, obviously.
Initially revealing the news by saying that you can romance any companion regardless of gender, the internet soon caught the wrong end of the stick and asked the question ‘Really, any companion?’, causing Bethesda’s Head of Marketing, Pete Hines, to clarify by tweeting, “The human ones.”
It’s a pretty progressive step for Bethesda to take, allowing romance between characters of the same sex, and beyond the socio-political aspects of it, it should hopefully facilitate a more immersive role-playing environment for any LGBT+ gamers out there. Or you can play your character as asexual, ignore the romances and become king/queen of the wasteland instead. Hooray for choices!
