Do you like chainsaws, shotguns and killing demons? Well, you’ll like the Doom series, and more importantly, you’ll likely enjoy the trailer for the fourth Doom game that was shown at Bethesda’s E3 press conference!

So far, the information about the game is in line with previous instalments; you play a marine who is carving their way through a horde of zombies. The weapons shown are two different kinds of shotgun, an automated laser assault rifle, a chainsaw and a BFG towards the end. The gameplay is very Doom, with lots of ridiculous, and hilarious, gore. Though it is fun to watch, the footage definitely has a scripted staleness to it, and the encounters are very slow and rhythmic. Likely, this is to allow viewers to soak in the different kinds of kills and the visual stylings of the game in all its glory.
The areas shown were some form of base, complete with the angular hallways, conveniently grated pathways and lots of machinery and connected tech and a hellish landscape that looks like the demon-world equivalent of our own with big cliffs and dilapidated buildings wrought with the hellspawn. They’re very well-lit, as compared to Doom 3 which was very torch-heavy in its gameplay. The footage downplays the horror sensibilities from Doom 3 as well and has a more original Doom vibe with just you brazenly facing a load of demons and mowing through them whatever way possible.
There will be multi-player and it looks very Quake-y with the deathmatches and a horde mode. Most interestingly, there will be full mod support from launch, with a fully supported forum for creating and sharing player-created maps. Modding has made longevity for many games, and this will likely be no different.
The next Doom, which doesn’t have a title as yet, is coming spring 2016.
