Paramount To Make Live-Action Beyblade Film
Beyblade is an interesting choice for a live action adaptation but, really, are we s
surprised? Paramount Pictures have already created movie magic with Hasbro toy lines like Transformers and G.I Joe, according to Deadline. Now they have set their eyes on Beyblade. Mary Parent (Pacific Rim) has been named as producer for the feature through her own Disruption Entertainment banner.
Originating from Japan, the Beyblade toys have been going strong since 2000, with a revamp in 2009 and more toy lines coming in 2017 generating in and around $2.5 billion in revenue. Teamed with an anime series of the same name inspired by the little gadgets, these were the toys to have. They were a very simple creation of customisable spin tops that players could launch into battle, using a rip cord system to create the spinning action. Then, the last Beyblade spinning wins!
The question is will this feature some of the well-known characters from the vast spin-off anime that have been born from the Beyblade toys? Or will they give us a whole new adventure? Whether you watched the series, played with the toys, or both, this is big news.
