Warner Bros needed to make a snappy decision, and it’s a good one. Patty Jenkins, director of Academy Award winning drama Monster in 2003, is the new director for Wonder Woman.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins replaces Michelle McLaren, who left the project on grounds of “creative differences” on Monday. Outside of Monster, Jenkins has worked on TV shows such as Entourage and The Killing, but has been keeping out of the film circle in recent years. She was attached to the film that would become Thor: The Dark World, but it is unknown as to why that particular arrangement didn’t work out, though it is commonly agree that it was to the film’s loss (and her being involved with Marvel at some point probably put her on the list for Warner Bros and DC).
Patty will be directing Gal Gadot as the Amazon princess, with a release date set for June 23rd, 2017. Gal can be seen as Wonder Woman in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
