Just when you think the adorable pink gelatenous blob of goo couldn’t get any frickin’ cuter Banjo Guy Ollie goes and puts his spin on the soundtrack. Normally I prattle on about the game and it’s history and I will but can we just talk for a second about how adorable this theme sounds on banjo – it’s bubbly and energising, I think it’s my favourite to date!
You might recognise it as the theme from the Gourmet Race mode on Kirby Super Star – this was a rare find in my time. The game offered those lucky to get a copy, eight games in one, and Gourmet Race was one of those. If you ever fancied racing King Dedede in a sprint to eat as much as possible while traversing platform styled tracks then you got your chance. The game was released for the Super Nintendo in 1997 and it was welcomed favorably into the Kirby collection of games – it was rehashed as Kirby Super Star Ultra on DS in 2008.
