Fans of the hit AMC series The Walking Dead no doubt know and love the character Daryl, played by Norman Reedus. The character has long been a fan favorite for his badass attitude and survival skills. However, Daryl is one of the only characters in the AMC adaption that has never appeared in The Walking Dead comics. As such, fans are left to wonder about not only his fate in the story line, but also the inner nuances of his character, such as his sexuality.

In an interview, producer Robert Kirkman was once asked about a character in the comics named Jesus, who bears a resemblance to Daryl in his mannerisms and pure bad-ass status, but is openly gay. When asked about their similarities, producers of the show then began to wonder whether or not their survivalist fan favorite Daryl should actually be gay in the show. While nothing is set in stone, Reedus has stated that he would have no problem should Daryl turn out to be gay, explicitly stating that “If that’s the story they gave me, I would rock that story. I’m not afraid of it.

So while the Bethyl (BethxDaryl) shippers remain distraught and hopeless, I offer some caution to those who support CarolxDaryl. You never know what’s around the corner on this show…
