Brace yourselves, internet. Neill Blomkamp is directing the next Alien film. Here’s his tweet on the matter:

We previously reported that Neill Blomkamp had humored the prospect with some in-depth musings, and now it looks like it will be his next film. The District 9, Elysium and Chappie director will be making an Alien film. In space, no-one can hear me fangirl.
Deadline have added that Ridley Scott is tied to produce this film, and it will take place after Prometheus 2, which Scott is still set to make. Neither film has a finished script.
