Michael Douglas Joins Ant-Man as Hank Pym.
Michael Douglas is Hank Pym, Paul Rudd is Scott Lang.
Fresh off his Golden Globe win it’s been revealed that Michael Douglas is to play Hank Pym in Marvels much anticipated Ant-Man while lead actor Paul Rudd will be playing the character of Scott Lang.
For those who don’t know, Hank Pym is the original incarnation of the Ant-Man character and a founding member of the Avengers, making his debut in 1962’s “Tales to Astonish” #27. Scott Lang (a former criminal) became the second to donnthe mantle of Ant-Man in 1979’s “Avengers” #181 after he steals Pym’s Ant-Man tech for his own use.
While many had hoped to see Paul Rudd tackle the role of Eric O’ Grady for the film ( another Ant-Man) it’s still possible that the studio could blend these roles as Hollywood often does. Such as shifting the age of Hank Pym as they have with Michael Douglas (69) as Pym in the comics, is depicted to be the same age as most Avengers.
Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man,” directed by Edgar Wright and co-written by Wright and Joe Cornish, is scheduled for release in 2015.
