Highschool never ends!

Apparently unlike high school, UK tours do end. Bowling for Soup, the pop-punk band behind songs like ‘Girl all the bad guys want’ and the ‘Phineas and Ferb’ theme song, have announced that after one last tour this October, they won’t be returning to the UK anymore. In a video released by their frontman, Jaret Reddick, he explains that it’s hard living with a family in Texas and then having to tour all year, especially when it’s as far as England and Ireland.

Bowling for Soup have played in the UK and Ireland for almost the last 6 years straight, which is certainly more then most American bands. Over the last decade, the band went from small town punk band to worldwide stars! As well as appearing in Phineas and Ferb as themselves and various other voices, the band also played the theme song for Jimmy Neutron in the movie of the tv show!

I got the chance to speak with guitarist, Chris Burney, about the band and his nerdy likes and dislikes!

Q: So, Chris, we all know you play guitar for Bowling for Soup, and I gotta say, some of the fans are pretty crazy. What’s the strangest thing you’ve received from a fan?

A: A guy gave me his wallet the other day, that was weird. Had $4 in it.

Q: In your song, ‘Val Kilmer’, it states that he ‘sucked as Batman’. Do you agree? Also, who was your favourite Batman?

A: Yeah, I don’t think he was very into that role. For me, it’s gotta be Christian Bale. Honestly, I think the earlier Batman movies kinda sucked balls. The production was very amusement park ride and the villains were a bit campy. Honestly, I’m more of an Avengers guy.

Q: Who’s your favourite Avenger and why?

A: Gotta be Captain America.  I’m a war history buff and I love how his story was tied into winning the war. And the Red Skull was a massive cool villain. Just a cool dude, Cap, even when they modernized him. Frozen in ice, cool stuff.

Q: Are you a fan of any other nerdy/geeky bits?

A: Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog!

Q: Brilliant! Hammer or Horrible, and why?

A: Horrible. I mean, it’s NPH!

Q: If you could get your band to cover any one song from it, what would it be?

A: Freeze Ray.

Thanks so much, Chris!
