The Jukebox has gotten some dust on it so what better way to liven things up around here than with a bit of rock music.
Now we’re not huge metalheads, we can tell our Metallica from our Aerosmith, we’ve even got tickets to Rammstein next year but we’re not exactly swinging a chain in a biker gang! So to shake things up we’re cranking up the volume and pouring out some of the best (as a dear friend of ours calls it ‘wuss rock’) ROCK that we can all have a nice safe mosh to! From Evanesence to Linkin Park, it’s all here with some odd choices so enjoy…
The video to the first track from their forthcoming album, Evanesence have hit the nail on the head again and we’re absolutely head over heels for this song! With less than a month to go before the album is released we’ve got this track on a near constant loop to stave off the shitters!
‘Evanesence’, the self-titled album is due for release October 11th!
Can anyone else remember thee guys before the Transformer movies? Before Michael Bay stuck his claws into the very soul of this band? Good! We remember Linkin Park when they were still cool and people were in shock over their very first video ‘Crawling’. Breaking the Habit comes from their second album ‘Meteora’ which despite selling over 10million records worldwide met with some harsh criticisms from fans and industry folk alike.
Personally we don’t go anywhere without some Park in our mp3 player and Meteora has always been our favourite piece of work by the band.
Let’s get this sorted once and for all! Creed are not and never were a Christian Rock band, yes, their first three albums, ‘My Own Prison’, ‘Human Clay’ and ‘Weathered’ were somewhat concerned with issues of theology and christian salvation but the band itself were never tied to a record company or christian label. Madonna talks about Jesus a lot we don’t consider her a Christian pop star (more of a decrepit succubus really!)
‘My Sacrifice’ comes from their third album, and the last album the band recorded before they went their seperate ways in 2004. Nearly eight years later, rumours have been confirmed that the group are coming back together again and have started working on a new single for release next year alongside a new album and tour pinned for the summer.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as the news comes in!
Ok, so sue us, this isn’t technically a rock song but damn it there is only so much we can take in one sitting! ‘John Wayne Gacy Jr,’ is from Sufjan Stevens and while it isn’t exactly heavy guitar with pounding, it IS dark and melancholic, something a true rock song should always aspire to emote in its listeners!
It’s a song about a serial killer…stop judging us!
Finally we come to perhaps one of our favourite rock bands in the history of wuss rock, Within Temptation, the band that make Evanesence sound like nursery rhyme composers, from insane instrumentals to operatic vocals, Within Temptation are what rock music has always been to us – over the top, dramatic and powerful!
Described best as symphonic rock artists, Within Temptation was founded fifteen years ago by Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt, the Dutch band grew rapidly in its success and continues to still perform and record today. With five albums under their belt, the latest ‘The Unforgiving’ released only this year the band are currently on tour playing to sell out gigs all over the world (and we missed out on tickets to their UK shows!…Boo-urns!)
