The Games of 2011

2010 was a great year for gamers whether you were a fan of RPGs and games like Fable III and Final Fantasy XIII were released to keep you happy, first person shooters like Modern Warfare 2 and Halo Reach blew sales out of the water and we even had a new way to play games with the release of Kinect and PlayStation Move.

It would be hard to beat or even climb to the same level as the developers and producers made for themselves last year but we’re already getting the jitters from over watching trailers and reading previews, 2011 will be another great year for gamers.

Dead Space 2

Release Date: Jan 25th 2011

The game that proved that in space no one can hear your scream is actually false – plenty of things hear you scream you just really wish that you hadn’t let them hear you. Isaac is alive and soon finds himself on board the ‘Sprawl’, a highly populated space station orbiting Saturn. Isaac is still heavily affected by the events on the Ishimura and now suddenly finds himself catapulted into the horror once more. Dead Space 2 comes with a multiplayer option and PS3 and Move owners get their own prequel Dead Space: Extraction, a prequel to the first game. Expect a preview coming very soon!

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Release Date: February 18th 2011

We are doing our best to contain our joy and squeals here but it’s getting harder and harder as the release date draws closer. Thirty two characters have been released to the public so far and a further eight have yet to be announced. We’ve even picked our three characters for kicking ass with but that’s all being kept under wraps… until the time comes! There will be a special limited edition version of the game released alongside but no demo will be released to the public before the launch.

Dragon Age II

Release Date: March 11th 2011

The sequel is almost here and we’re drooling at the thoughts of it! While we’re not adverse to change we are a little disappointed that we’ve lost the ability to customize our hero’s race we can still tamper with their gender, age and class. You will take on the role of Hawke and your life narrated by a companion who will tell the tales of your great deeds or your cruel acts.
This has epic written all over it and we’re sure Bioware and Electronic Arts won’t let us down!

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Release Date: June 16th 2011

Who doesn’t love a good MMO! World of Warcraft might be one of the most popular in the history of online play but in recent years other franchises have started to move into the world of the MMO, we’ve seen Star Trek take a trip into territory that other men had gone before and the game steadily rises in popularity. DC Universe is still preparing for its leap into the genre but LucasArts and the Star Wars are only 6 months away from bringing MMO to the Galaxy that’s far far away.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Release Date: November 11

Little to nothing is know about the fifth instalment in the Elder Scroll games. Bethesda Game Studios are keeping their lips sealed for another two months, with everything from plot to gameplay. All we’ve managed to dig up so far is that they are innovating some new technology while tinkering with the older system used in Oblivion. We’ll also see some major improvements to the graphics and character animation. Mark the date in your calendar because this is going to be one of the big games of the year.

Guild Wars 2
