Megamind

In a distant Galaxy, not too far from the Milk Way, a blackhole has emerged and is on the brink of destroying the planets that lay in its path. Two families, on two separate worlds desperately seek to save their newborn sons, sealing them inside capsules and sending them into space, unaware of the destiny that lies before their babies. Both crash on our planet, one is raised by loving parents and grows up to become Metro Man, Champion of the People and defender of justice, the other, a big blue headed baby winds up in a prison for super criminals and becomes a dastardly villain by the name of Megamind, arch nemesis to Metro Man.

Having spent years trying to destroy his rival, Megamind and his sidekick Minion finally succeed in their dastardly plans to not only stop but sort of accidentally kill the hero but when a new threat rises and there is no one around to save the people, it is time for this villain to swap sides and begin a life of good deeds? Saving the city and capturing the heart of a beautiful reporter, fame and glory? Is it worth giving up a life he came to treasure?

Megamind stars the voices of Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Ben Stiller.

Monsters

When a NASA space probe crashes in Mexico, a deadly new life form is brought to Earth with it and the world we know is about to change drastically or at the very least… Mexico is! The Mexican and American governments order an almost immediate quarantine of the country, a huge wall is erected on the US border and army patrols ensure that nothing inhuman can cross the borders.

Andrew Kaulder is a photo journalist in Mexico, his job is to capture images of the destruction and bedlam caused by the aliens, disgruntled by his employer. Kaulder would rather show how people in Mexico have begun to live longside the new life rather than the calamity and is only frustrated more when he is told by his boss he has to find his daughter and get her safely across the border. Samantha is a woman unhappy with her life, her relationship with her father is strained and she feels pressured to marry someone she doesn’t really love, thrust into the situation in Mexico the pair will have to get passed their tempestuous relationship if they are going to get out of the country alive.

Together they must cross the scarred terrain of Mexico, avoid hostile alien and human encounters if they plan on surviving. Beautifully shot, this is British cinema at its best and a must see for any sci-fi fans.
