Without a doubt, the movie we are looking forward to seeing most this year is definitely Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Universal finally released a trailer when the Scott Pilgrim Facebook page hit 100,000 fans on Monday and we may or may not have squealed like little anime fan girls. The @rcade checks out the trailer below and gives you a heads-up on what is sure to be one of the best comic book movies ever!
Based on the comic book series by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the movie has been highly anticipated for quite some time now. It stars Michael Cera (Juno) as our bass playing slacker and… hero Scott, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Death Proof) as the cool, calm, and collected delivery girl of his dreams, Ramona V. Flowers. Now, the only problem with trying to woo said dream girl is the fact that he has to defeat all SEVEN of her evil exes that are coming to kill him, including infamous skateboarders, vegan rock stars and wait for it, identical twins. (Ramona you dog!) To top it all off, he also has to deal with the girl who kicked his heart’s ass being back in town. Good times, no?
Scott Pilgrim comes to us straight from the hands of writer and director Edgar Wright, who brought us the awesomeness that was Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead, so it’s safe to say the movie will be treated with the love and care it deserves. With a soundtrack provided by The Ting Tings, LCD Soundsystem, Be Your Own Pet, Beck, Metric and Prodigy to name but a few, you’ll be dancing in your seats too!
Filled with cute awkwardness, hilarious one-liners and a brief glimpse of a smouldering Chris Evans, the trailer has done nothing but make us even more excited to see Scott battle it out for Ramona’s heart. Like we said, we cannot WAIT to see this movie. The only problem we have is waiting until August 6th when it hits our screens.
