World Of Warcraft Music Parody Videos – EwTube
World of Warcraft is a video game, but it is so much more than that to so many people. Many very talented and creative people have used World of Warcraft to express their talent and creativity.
Over the years, my favourite creations have been the parody music videos. Singers, song writers and animators have teamed up over the years to create some very entertaining songs. For my EwTube this week, I have decided to pick out five of my favourites. You may never listen to the original song the same way again.
The first one on my list is a parody of the song ‘Just Dance’ by Lady Gaga. The parody was written by Tyranno, who also did all the animation for the video. The vocals for the song are by Ember Isolte and Sharm, who is probably my favourite World of Warcraft parody singer. World of Warcraft is game that has many expansions, and this song was written in anticipation of an upcoming expansion, Cataclysm.
End of the World (of Warcraft)
As we approached the Cataclysm expansion, the time for World of Warcraft parody videos and music was at its peak. This next video is part of that peak time and was written and animated by the YouTube personality Nyhm. The vocals included Nyhm and my favourite artist, Sharm. This was a parody of the R.E.M. song ‘The End of the World’ and it fit in so perfectly with the expansion because the world as we knew it in the game was changing drastically.
Run Deathwing Run
When I made my picks for these videos, I did not realize I enjoyed so many that were set around the time of the Cataclysm expansion. This third parody video came out just before the expansion as well. This was a huge collaboration of many of the female creators in the WoW Parody community. Raven Sylphe did all the machinima for the video, which was quite extensive and absolutely wonderful.
The song is a parody of a Korean song called ‘Run Devil Run’ by Girls Generation, which makes the writing of an English parody even more impressive. The lyrics were written in collaboration by Letömi and PVPSiennah. The vocals were provided by Raven Sylphe, Ember Isolte, Letömi, Sharm, PVPSiennah, Gigi, Rawrbug, Liho and Ariel. This may be my absolute favourite video and song that has ever been created by the wonderful WoW Parody community.
Hello Kitty – Loque’Nahak
A video on this list that is not a prelude to the Cataclysm expansion, you say? Yes, finally one made the list that wasn’t directly related to an expansion, but rather the game itself. This one is a parody of the Avril Levigne song ‘Hello Kitty’ and was written and performed by Sharm. Unfortunately, I was unable to find out who did the animation for this one, but it is still a wonderful song and video.
Loque’Nahak is a special creature that Hunters can tame so that it becomes their pet. The problem with this is that he is a very rare spawn in the game. He is hard to find before anyone else either tames him or kills him. Other classes want to kill him as he is also part of an in-game achievement when killed. So it brings back memories to many of you who wanted him as their own. Whether you tried and succeeded or tried and failed, we all felt the struggle.
The first video I chose was written and animated by Tyranno, and this one is as well. Alexstrasza is a parody of the Lady Gaga song ‘Alejandro’ and once again the vocals were provided by Sharm. This one was a flat out dedication to one of the Dragon Aspects in the game. She is known as the Dragon Queen as she leads all of the Dragon Aspects… with the exception of Deathwing, who only listens to himself. This song explains her story up to a certain point and is wonderfully displayed in the video.
As I was finding the videos for this article, I found out that ‘Alexstrasza’ also had a remastered video redone by Khayllys. So I figured I’d give you both to check out:
I was going to include this one, but the video is more or less just game play. I enjoyed the song and also felt that the artist deserved some mention here. This is a parody of ‘Crank That’ by Soulja Boy and was sung by a group that called themselves DruidBoyz. The lyrics for the parody were written by Druid Boy DemineonZ. This was just a fun song and brings back memories of my solid World of Warcraft playing days.
