Bethesda have announced that the long awaited Fallout 4 and Skyrim mods are coming to PlayStation 4. The news comes via a post by Bethesda on their website.
According to the latest post – “Skyrim will have these features when it launches on October 28. The new power of the PlayStation 4 Pro has allowed us to make Skyrim render in native 4k, and it looks better than ever. Here are some screens to show you just how great it looks.”
This come just weeks after a previous Bethesda post with an update on the delay of PlayStation 4 mods in which it outlines the reason why mods were not being allowed by Sony, who – “will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.”
Although Sony have not fully made a u-turn on their stance of users creating anything they want in the 2 games, Bethesda go on to state in their latest post that – “Mod support will come to Skyrim first. We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible. Mods on PlayStation 4 will allow you to modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit available here. You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do. By creating a Bethesda.net account, you’ll be able to browse and try mods right from within the game.”
Mods have been a fan favourite in both the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series’ and have been available on PC and Xbox One for a while now. Hopefully PlayStation fans can create some unique and interesting mods that will extend the life of both games.
