In a recent interview with IGN, Tim Morten (StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void producer) discussed the possibility of returning to the Warcraft series in RTS form. With the release of Legacy of the Void, the team will be done with the current Starcraft 2 story for a while, and what better series to revitalize than the one that cemented Blizzard in RTS?

“It’s very rewarding for us to hear that there’s demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe so once we’re done with Void I think we’ll get together as a team and talk about what would inspire us to work on next. There’s no question, though, that we’ll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible.”

If there was any time to bring Warcraft back as a series, it is now. With World Of Warcraft haemorrhaging subscribers every month, Blizzard needs to do more with the IP other then a card game. With the Warcraft movie being released next year, the series will be sure to grow in popularity, and with a new RTS game with the characters we know and love, surely the brand will do better than ever.
