According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is preparing to remake Sister Act. We’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about the many remakes that have made it to our screens in recent years. However, on the heels of the updates about Big Trouble in Little China, the news of this 1992 comedy being remade is bound to raise eyebrows.
On Comingsoon.net Max Evry writes that, “Female-driven comedy specialists Kirsten ‘Kiwi’ Smith and KarenSister Act McCullah (Legally Blonde, The House Bunny, She’s the Man) will pen the new version, with Alli Shearmur (Cinderella) producing.”
Tatiana Siegel has said, “The project marks something of a homecoming for Smith and McCullah, whose first film, 10 Things I Hate About You, was produced and released by Disney.”
The filmography of those confirmed to be involved is not discouraging. However, we can certainly say that many will be less than enthused.
What do you make of the original Sister Act? What are your thoughts on the remake? Would you like the remake machine to stop? Let us know in the comments!
